QUINTUS Hot Isostatic Pressing

Features of hot isostatic pressing (HIP).

safely
Each QUINTUS® hot isostatic press features a cylindrical high-pressure vessel and yoke frame structure with a high-strength prestressed cold-rolled spring wire winding design. Prestressing allows the pressure vessel wall to retain residual compressive stress even at maximum working pressure to eliminate tensile loads and prevent crack propagation and brittle failure.

Our wire winding designs are widely regarded as the safest, most reliable and durable pressure vessel designs ever made. The vessel meets the ASME standard of “leak before explosion” and has a fatigue life of more than 20,000 cycles. The system is lighter and more compact because the spring wire used in the QUINTUS® design has twice the tensile strength of forged parts. Compared to non-wire wound systems, our systems can reduce weight by up to 50%.

Productivity
Qunitus Technologies’ Uniform Rapid Cooling (URC®) and Uniform Rapid Quenching (URQ®) furnaces reduce cycle times and increase productivity through unique HIP cycles, including heat treatment. They can easily cool a full-workload medium-sized HIP from 1260 degrees Celsius to 300 degrees Celsius in less than 30 minutes.

In an equal HIP system, it can take 8 to 12 hours with free cooling, far more than half the typical cycle time. Our URC design is able to evenly cool all areas of the workload, reducing thermal distortion and uneven grain growth.

Modular solution
Quintus’ modular solutions are space-saving and cost-effective in terms of investment throughout the plant. The modular solution simplifies construction and civil work, and all subsystems can be easily assembled into a cost-effective complete production facility.

Turnkey delivery
Quintus Technologies has installed a large number of hot isostatic presses around the world. Our project management model is so effective that customers only need to contact us from a single point of contact before the equipment is ready and production begins.
